iPhone 3GS Hands on Review

iphone3gsreviewed iPhone 3GS Hands on Review

If it were not already apparent the main feature of the new iPhone 3GS is the Speed, which makes sense why Apple would call it the  iPhone 3G “S”. So that will be where we will start.

SPEED

Thanks to Engadget for the video on loading time of  Resident Evil Degeneration.  From even the startup of the phone I see a huge difference on loading time on the iPhone 3GS  cutting the startup time in less than half of the 3g starting time. Of course all transitions show slight increases that would not be noticed unless they were side by side with the 3g. (more…)

iPhone Game sales

Here is a graph of the Worldwide sales of all the big gaming units (minus PC’s) against the iPhone, given at the WWDC keynotes Monday. Not bad for a small cellphone right? I mean the iPhone has the obvious disadvantage of most users NOT using the iPhone to play games opposed to something like the Nintendo DS who’s buyers use the device for playing games as its main function.

We can expect even more growth out of the iPhone gaming after the announcement of the new Open GL ES 2.0 gaming graphics for the iPhone 3G S.

Note: sales data was taken from Wikipedia, and in some cases the figures are from as far back as March 2009. There shouldn’t be a huge jump between March and May/June numbers, so it’s close enough for the ballpark chart we’re showing.

wwdc2009 625 Tom Tom on iPhone 3.0

WWDC has announced the new iPhone 3.0 will be integrated with a “TomTom app”. What you will need is:

  • the TomTom app including the latest maps
(coming soon to the iTunes App Store)
  • the TomTom car kit that offers secure docking, enhanced GPS performance, clear voice instructions and hands-free calling, all while charging your iPhone at the same time.

This is available for both the new iPhone 3GS and 3G.

iPhone 3.0: Find My iPhone

wwdc2009 519 iPhone 3.0: Find My iPhone

I am quite exstatic about this new feature on the iPhone 3.0 called Find My iPhone. As it sounds it will help you find your iPhone via GPS google maps using MobileMe. You can send messages to the phone letting anyone with the phone know you are tracking. Whats great is if it truly is stolen you have the capability of erasing everything wirelessly.  If it is simply lost in your house it will make a ringing noise for you to locate it EVEN if you have the phone set on silent. Really great little app that I am sure to be using some day.

Double Twist advertises in front of Apple flagship

applead Double Twist advertises in front of Apple flagship

How did this happen Apple! iTunes arch nemisis Double Twist has put up a full scale banner smack dab below Apple’s main San Francisco flagship. Right below the apple logo to boot. If you are unaware of who Double Twist is check out this video that shows off its innovative (reverse engineered) technology.

So as you see it can simply upload your media many other devices besides iPhones and also connects you seamlessly with your friends to share your media (Pics, Videos, etc.). Sure they don’t have the iTunes store but it is still quite a danger for Apple iTunes. *Update* The ad has been pulled down but already Double Twist has announced it will be back shortly. The reason that this ad was up in the first place was because this wall is technically owned by “BART” the Bay Area’s commuter transit system and was paid for fair and square by Double twist which can also be purchased by any other legitimate competitors with interest. Hey isn’t Microsoft looking for some viral marketing ploys?

More 3rd Generation iPhone pics leaked?

More 3rd Generation iPhone pics leaked?

Really looks sweet right? I think so, but I have been turned to disbelief of everything with all the fake 3rd  generation iPhones swirling around its hard to imagine any of these will be real. Many analyst believe that the cosmetic design will change only slightly becaue after all if it isnt broken dont fix it. This image is a bit of an advancement with the much thinner design with the larger screen. It would be great if this is the real deal. Only a weekend away from the big WWDC announcements and we expect much more fakes will be rolling out soon enough.
