Nintendo just announced that they are dropping the MSRP of their DSi and DSi XL handhelds. That’s a full Jackson that you can spend on more games or hot dogs. Why hot dogs? Everybody loves hot dogs that’s why!
Of course, with Nintendo DS being the hottest selling handheld console in history, why would they want to drop the price? We think it’s because they are getting close to announcing the release date of the 3DS and they need to move some units before stoking the fire. Who would want to buy an old system knowing the new one is coming around the bend?

Howdy doody, gamers! Nintendo’s big upcoming handheld, the Nintendo 3DS is hitting it big here at E3! Lines have gone on for hours just for a sneak peak at the yet-to-be-released portable. 3D is all the rage these days, but everyone complains about those darn cumbersome glasses. The Nintendo 3DS promises to do away with them completely… can it deliver?
Seems like the big developers and publishers think so. With the consoles release date almost a year away, Nintendo has already accumulated a rather hefty list of first and third party contributers to the 3DS’ title library.

DRAGON QUEST IX: SENTINELS OF THE STARRY SKIES LAUNCHES ON JULY 11
Character Customization, Cooperative Multiplayer Adventuring and an Epic Story Make for a One-of-a-Kind Nintendo DS Experience
REDMOND, Wash., May 19, 2010 – Launching in the United States on July 11, DRAGON QUEST® IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies™ for the Nintendo DS™ family of systems lets players enjoy an adventure that is entirely their own, yet can be shared with others anywhere, anytime. Developed by Square Enix Co., Ltd., this game has already become a phenomenon with players of all ages and backgrounds in Japan, with more than 4.2 million units sold.
Before setting off on their adventure, players can create their own heroes, deciding how they would like their face, hair and clothing to look. As the story unfolds, players become stronger, smarter and more powerful, and can customize companions who join their group. Players will have fun discovering more than 1,000 pieces of clothing, armor, weapons and other items that will provide them with a unique appearance and special abilities. Players can also change the class of their character at any time, choosing from a variety of vocations that will affect their abilities and strengths in the game.
In DRAGON QUEST IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies, players begin their adventure as a city guardian who is sent to retrieve a sacred tree’s fruits, which have the power to grant wishes. Players travel the world, conquer fearsome monsters and unravel an epic storyline. During their journey, players will encounter mighty opponents in fast-paced battles, and also interact with a colorful cast of characters.
DRAGON QUEST IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies contains special modes that let players share their adventure with others, allowing up to four players to team up via a local wireless connection and experience the fun of tackling challenging monsters and dungeons cooperatively with their own characters. Players can even leave the game active in their backpacks, pockets or purses and still interact with other players via an interactive “Tag Mode.” Information about players’ characters can be wirelessly transmitted to others, and treasure maps and customized greetings can be exchanged automatically by players who come within range of one another when their games are set to Tag Mode.
Players looking to enjoy a variety of different game activities can take on special side quests. Some of these quests will be earned by progressing through the game, while additional quests will be made available for free download for players with broadband Internet access after the game launches, providing hours of additional content for virtual adventurers to enjoy either on their own or with friends. Some downloadable quests will continue the main storyline of the game, while others offer standalone missions.
“DRAGON QUEST IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies is one of the biggest games ever to hit Nintendo DS, with an incredible amount of content for every kind of player to enjoy,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. “This new game has all of the elements of an instant classic: customization options, a great story, and the ability to share a nearly limitless experience with friends.”

That is the recent prediction of the infamous EEDAR analyst” Jesse Divinich”. He claims Nintendo will be announcing their next handheld (Perhaps the DS2) within the next 8 months. He believes you will have it within your grubby hands in 15 months. He goes on to say that ” Nintendo’s success in the handheld market is their ability to remove opportunity gaps for competitors to enter”. He goes on to make the example of thier year earlier release of the DS before having to go head to head with the PSP. Another reason for his speculation is because of the growing problem with piracy in the DS community (R4 SDHC we’re talking about you), causing the Developers Ubisoft to scale back in its Nintendo DS development as of recent.
This would be an awesome design, if this photoshopped image above was close to the actual product. Hell, many of the features have been hinted like this in small undertones from President Satoru Iwata in the recent months.
Greetings, gamers! I know a handful of you out there are Final Fantasy aficionados! With the release of Final Fantasy XII close at hand, and on both Next-Gen consoles, buzz is at an all-time high. Rumors are flying, however, after a recent interview by Edge with Yoichi Wada, Square Enix’s President and CEO.
"Whether we are going to continue to internally create this type of game remains to be seen, because I actually feel that the team that was involved with Final Fantasy XIII should next move on to create and generate some ‘next generation’ forms of play."
Could this really mean the end of the Final Fantasy franchise as we know it? Maybe. Who knows, really? Speculation is abound. All I’m saying is that it’s going to be a sad day in RPG gaming when we can no longer look forward to stories about a ragtag bunch of precocious, materia-charged, youngsters with carefully tousled hair. All I’m saying, too, is that I hope Nobuo Uematsu has another "Friends" concert sometime soon.
Final Fantasy XIII will be available in the US on March 9, 2010. If you haven’t already done so, you should probably preorder! Available for Xbox 360 and PS3 .
Hey there, classic gamer! World getting you down? No worries, I’m here with another gameriffic throwback to the good old days! Dark Void Zero. Supposedly originally developed by Capcom for the Nintendo Playchoice-10, this side-scrolling platform definitely has an old-school NES-type feel. Some are likening it to Metroid! Justin Bailey! Dark Void Zero is set to be released on the Nintendo DSiWare network, where you can download straight to your DSi.
