Not looking forward…at all.

In fact, they’ve already started their web presence threefold:

Official Website
Crystal Dynamic’s Twitter
Facebook Fan Page

All three are pretty scant at the moment, displaying only the title Logo of the new Lara Croft adventure.  I’m sure that’ll change in the coming days, though.  I know!  Our favorite top-heavy video-game-heroine is returning to the world!

Stay tuned here to DasReviews for more breaking news as it… well, breaks!

battlefield bad company 2 video review main Video Review Battlefield: Bad Company 2

Hey there gamefans.  Coming at you with another great video review!  Enter: Battlefield: Bad Company 2.

Let me guess, some of you are tired of (dare I say it?) .  I mean it’s great and all, but you feel like it’s just more of what you enjoyed from the first Modern Warfare, without any significant improvement.   It was cool, but still a big *sigh*.

First of all, how could you spit in MW2’s face like that after all you’ve been through!?  You’re supposed to learn how to work things out if they’re important to you. Second of all, if you decide to go the slutty mistress path, there’s always Battlefield: Bad Company 2.  Oh, and trust me… as slutty mistresses go, Bad Company 2 is the Wunderslut… and smokin’ hot to boot! DasBoot!

Remember digital warriors, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is available on Xbox 360 and PS3!

Dingoo A320 Portable Emulator – Unboxing and Hands-on Product Review

dingoo a320 handheld emulator pic Dingoo A320 Portable Emulator Unboxing and Hands on Product Review

Howdy, DasCitizens!?  So, we know some of you out there are totally head over heels about Retro Gaming!  Don’t get me wrong, I am too, that’s why I’m bringing you a nice little review of this little bad boy: the Dingoo A320 – Portable Emulator / Multimedia Handheld system.  All you ROM collectors out there, this system is exactly what you’re looking for.

The Dingoo A320 contains built-in emulators for NES, SNES, Genesis/MegaDrive, CPS1, CPS2, and NeoGeo. Not only that, but it plays music and video!  It comes with 4GB of built-in memory, which is expandable via use of a MiniSD card.  The system has stereo external speakers, as well as headphone jack and, get this, a TV out.  Yup!  A TV-out jack.  That means you can play all your favorite games on a TV, using the Dingoo as a gamepad.

More Specs:
CPU – Ingenic JZ4732 running @ 336MHz
RAM – 32MB @ 133MHz
I/O – USB 2.0
Display – 2.8″ LCD @ 320×240 resolution
Dimensions – 125mm x 55.5mm x 14mm (4.92in x 2.17in x 0.59in)

I’d say that quite a lot of power and features packed into something that’s barely bigger than a cell phone.  But, does it blend? -er, does it work?

I got a chance to sit down with said Dingoo A320 for a few days.  I can tell you that it’s definitely worth the price tag.

Why?  Well, check out the Unboxing and Hands-on video, first!

Now, the game ran NES, SNES, Genesis, and CPS ROMS with absolutely no problem.  There is a bit of upscaling for the older titles, even on the Dingoo’s 2.8″ screen.  The colors are nice and vibrant, even when displayed on a larger monitor via the AV out.  There is some frame dropping, however, with some of the emulators.  This is most notable when playing CPS ROMs on the unit.  There are options with the emulator menu that allow the user to turn off automatic frame skipping and even set the frame skip manually.  This does cause certain games to slow down quite a bit if you try to run the game at full framerate.  I was able, though to find a happy median between framerate and slowdown.

The unit itself is fairly well put together.  It feels solid and has a good amount of weight to it.  The face buttons have a nice durable feel and are pretty responsive.  Although they have a nice click to them, the shoulder buttons are a little too small to feel comfortable during long gaming sessions.  I did, however, have a bit of trouble with the d-pad now and then.  There was a tendency for the d-dpad to sometimes sense a press in the “UP” direction while I was pressing left or right.  It, however, wasn’t pervasive.  I only noticed it a handful of times in over 10 hours of game and music play.

The sound chip on the unit is decent, even when listened to through a pair of headphones.  In game sound effects come out nice and clear.  MP3 playback can be a little tinny.  The surprising part about the Dingoo’s sound capabilities: The built-in radio tuner actually works pretty well!  You can save presets, so if you really can’t miss your morning NPR and take mass transit to work, this thing is great.

In terms of battery life, the Dingoo clocked in pretty close to its touted 7-hours of use.  I was about to make it through a weekend’s worth of listening to music and gaming without a 2nd charge.

What really kicks ass about the Dingoo A320, though, is the online community.  It’s fairly large and pretty active.  Doing a quick Google search for “Dingoo A320″ will bring up lots of homebrew sites and support forums that make using (and modding your Dingoo) a snap.  There’s evena Linux distribution for the Dingoo, called Dingux.  According to the forums, that’s when the Dingoo A320 really shines.  2 words: MAME ROMs.

So, I’d say do yourself a favor and pick one of these up!  They’re available in black and white (for you Apple fanboys). My old school gaming needs have never felt more fulfilled.

2K Sports Giving Away $1,000,000 for a MLB 2K10 Perfect Game!

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

mlb 2k10 perfect game million dollars 2K Sports Giving Away $1,000,000 for a MLB 2K10 Perfect Game!

What’s the word gamers!?  Who says you can’t make money playing games?  Well, for all you hardcore sports game people out there, here’s your chance to bank on your MLB 2k10 skills!  You read that headline correctly -2K Sports is giving away 1 Million Dollars to the first gamer out there who can pull off a verified perfect game in their brand spanking new baseball title.

Sounds easy enough, right?  Think again, homeboy.  We know that 2K Sports prides themselves on the simulation aspect of their MLB games, so if baseball’s difficulty transcends the digital realm, then this is going to be one tough feat.  Look at it like this: in the over 100 years since the inception of Major League Baseball, there have only been 18 perfect games thrown.   That’s one every 5.5 years.  Or one every 12,000 games.  Actually, that’s better odds than winning the lottery.  That is beside the point!  It’s going to be a challenge because I say it is!

And of course, such a large prize isn’t without its share of red tape.  2k Sports has outlined a relatively strict process of verifying your Perfect Game run, so make sure you read the Battle for $1,000,000 PDF Checklist very closely before you have a go at it.   A few excerpts from the checklist:

Recording must begin at least 5 seconds prior to turning on television and Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3.

Recording must show the full boot up sequence of the videogame console.

You must play the game in the MLK 2K10 Contest mode in MLB Today, which will automatically set the difficulty to All-Star.

You may not pause or interrupt the game at any time during the entirety of the game.

Pretty stringent… but understandable.  I’m sure there are tons of folks out there who have unscrupulous agendas on their minds.  Oh, and sorry residents of Arizona, Connecticut, Maryland, North Dakota and Vermont, you’re SOL.  That just doesn’t seem fair.

Well, do you have the necessary Total Control Pitching mastery to take on this daunting task?  Oh you do, do you?  Well, you better get on it.  MLK 2k10 released today and I’m sure the legions have already begun their training.  And remember, it’s 1 Million dollars!  Think of all the coolness you could do with that kind of cash!  What would I do?  Three words and an octothorpe: Action Comics #1.

Check out the official rules at the 2K Contest site.  And if you haven’t ordered your copy of MLB 2K10 yet, you better get crackin’  the faceless hordes are on to you.  Pick it up for PS3 or Xbox 360!
