488 is the magic number says Wal-Mart Execs. This coming from a “leaked internal memo”. The memo reads:Â “At 9:00 am on December 28th, Walmart will have a national release of the Apple iPhone“. It then goes on to say that this store of 488 have been randomly selected to participate in a pilot test phase of the iPhone sales. The test subjects? As I read this I could not help but to chuckle. The Memo goes on to say that there will be 5 iPhones per store, raffled off to any interested associates. Also it should be noted that there will be NO employment discount, well unless you count the $2.00 difference you save through walmart pricing (Walmart iPhone price). So to get this straight… Walmart is basing its success or projections on if there minimum wage workers are willing to fight for the iPhone through a raffle? I am curious to see what you guys out there think. The more I hear of this campaign between apple and Wal-mart, the more I think this may be a mistake on Apples part to choose. But time will tell.
