2K announced today a new partnership with XLGAMES. XLGAMES will develop and publish a MMO game that will be based on one of 2K Games’ top-selling franchise and will be made available to the Asian market. According to Mr. Song, both 2K Games and XLGAMES have been working on this title for over a year. Interesting stuff. Hopefully we’ll have more news and a proper announcement in this year’s E3.

Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K said:

“One of 2K’s key long-term initiatives is to bring our groundbreaking, triple-A entertainment experiences to broader audiences through emerging online platforms and markets. Our partnership with XLGAMES underscores our ongoing commitment to expanding 2K’s presence in online gaming and the Asian market by leveraging our creative expertise with companies that are proven leaders in the region. With the addition of the XLGAMES partnership, we have now announced three exciting projects to develop online games in Asia.”

Mr. Song added:

“This is a great partnership between XLGAMES and 2K. We have already been working together for a year on the game, and I can tell you this is one of the most exciting projects that I’ve ever undertaken. I cannot wait to launch this collaboration, which illustrates our shared development talent and passion to create cutting-edge entertainment experiences.”

Hubert Larenaudie, president of Take-Two Asia concluded:

“In all my years in the Asian gaming industry, I have never met a game creator with Jake’s experience and caliber. I have no doubt that he will deliver another stellar title for the Asian market.”
