Deep Silver revealed today Dead Island’s packshots. The game is developed by Techland, is rated 18 and is scheduled for a 2011 release. It will be an open ended game that can be best described as a mix of Far Cry 2 and Dead Rising/Left 4 Dead. Dead Island combines first-person action with a heavy focus on melee combat. Players will also be able to develop their characters and customize a vast array of weapons. Here is a 20 minutes gameplay footage from Dead Island. The previous CG trailer was quite misleading, as Dead Island won’t be a survival horror game. It looks more like a mix between Far Cry 2 and Left 4 Dead or Dead Rising. Which is good but come on, we’ve seen a lot of similar games. It’s time for something original, something new, something that will indeed shock us. And Dead Island doesn’t look like it. Apogee Software announced today the North American release date of Duke Nukem: Critical Mass for Nintendo DS. Duke Nukem: Critical Mass will hit DS on May 25th. The game will feature seven different gameplay modes, three difficulty settings, fifteen weapons and nine locations with over thirty levels. At last, Deep Silver released the first gameplay trailer of their much anticipated zombie FPS game, Dead Island. The game looks great, although you will immediately notice the absence of AA and the low quality of shadows. Still, those things will be hopefully fixed in the PC version.
