TECMO KOEI planning to take over casual and social gaming

Is it time for company’s to leap into casual and social gaming? Seems so, as TECMO KOEI, the company behind Ninja Gaiden and Dynasty Warriors announced today its plans to develop high quality social games titles. Jollywood will be the company’s debut social game for Facebook. Other games will eventually follow on mobile and networked social platforms. Is hardcore and traditional gaming at its end or what?

Mr Kobayashi, who is also the President and Chief Operating Officer of TECMO KOEI Singapore said:

“We want to expand our footprint globally through social games, particularly into the casual gamers markets.  The Singapore studio will be instrumental in this strategy.”

According to a press release we got, Jollywood will be a simulation game for light casual users. Players will be able to create getaways of fun and relaxation amidst scenic landscapes. The game will be made available today, May 18th.
