343 Industries set to remake Halo:Combat Evolved

Expect shiny new graphics and online Co-op

343 Industries has just revealed that, alongside another so far unrevealed Halo game, they are set to release a Halo Combat Evolved remake later this year. Contrary to what you might think, this apparently won’t be a simple HD remake of Bungie’s 2001 hit title but rather a re-imagining, sporting new ‘Art Assets’ as well as online coop and multiplayer.

While the remake is being officially developed by New Jersey-based Saber Interactive, the company behind TimeShift, 343 Industries are keeping a watchful eye on it’s development. While there are currently no plans to update the recently disconnected Halo 2 or any further plans by Microsoft or 343 to port the other Halo installments, Halo 3, ODST and Reach, to PC its hard to imagine that Microsoft wouldn’t expand upon this new concept if it takes off when the Halo:CE remake is released November 15th this year, marking the 10th anniversary of Halo:CE’s debut on the original Xbox console back in 2001.
