BioShock 2 Widescreen Fix Patch Available Now

By on February 23, 2010

What’s the good word, game fans?  By now, I’m sure all of you have heard about the BioShock 2 PC widescreen support fiasco.  If you haven’t, well basically the first BioShock caught a lot of flak by taking shortcuts witht their widescreen resolution support.  Basically, Instead of giving gamers a wider view of the action, they actually kept the same screen width, but reduced the the view on the top and bottom of the screens to make it look widescreen.  Essentially, they letterboxed it.  And we all know that letterbox is by far the worst thing ever.

Now, we all assumed that for the sequel, 2k would never pull the same faux pas, right?  I mean, it caused such a hoopla last time that there’s no way they’d take a shortcut AGAIN!  Right?  RIGHT?

Wrong.  They totally shipped BioShock 2: Letterbox Edition to all the world’s PC gamers.  Might as well have included a large foam #1 hand… with the finger shifted over one, if you know what I mean.

Well, thankfully, the 2K games decided to actually address the problem and have released a patch for all of you widescreen PC gamers out there.

If you haven’t picked up BioShock 2 for Xbox 360 or PS3, yet.  You really should!
