Hitman Absolution Officially Announced

By on May 11, 2011

As we reported yesterday, IO Interactive released today a press release in which they officially announce the latest adventures of our beloved bald and bar-coded assassin, Agent 47. The game will be called Hitman Absolution and will be released for PC, X360 and PS3. Although the company didn’t provide any release date, we can only assume that it won’t make it this year and will probably hit the streets in 2012.

“For the first time we are taking Agent 47 on a personal journey which allows us to explore other parts of the HITMAN fantasy, said Tore Blystad, game director, IO Interactive. “This is both a familiar and yet significantly different experience to any of the other Hitman games, something our silent assassins will relish as well as those who are new to the Hitman world.”

According to the press release, the game will be based on the Glacier 2 technology, an in-house game engine developed by IO Interactive. The game promises to boast a cinematic story with art direction. Hitman Absolution will feature both old and new gameplay features, so it will be quite interesting to see what IO Interactive has to offer us.

IO Interactive will attend this year’s E3 and visitors will be able to take a taste of the game. Yeap, you read it right. Hitman Absolution will be showcased (by invitation only) at the upcoming E3!
