Minecraft passes 2 million sales

Developer Marcus Persson has confirmed on his blog that Minecraft has passed 2 million sales. That’s huge, considering that the game is still, technically, in beta phase. The game is scheduled for release on November 11th, the same day with The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Of course Marcus doesn’t mind that. Minecraft is already a commercially successful game.

In other news, the much-anticipated Beta 1.5 was released some days ago. This new version introduced rain and snow effects. Achievements have also finally been added, as have gameplay statistics and two new minecart operations. According to Notch, more statistics and achievements will be added over time as they develop the game.
