How to Use XAMPP to Test-Dev Your WordPress!

By on February 9, 2010

Hey gamers!  I understand we like to talk about gaming here at DasReviews.  But today, for some reason, I was inspired to talk about developing/designing/customizing WordPress.  Most specifically, I thought it would be cool to show you a page that I like to use that tells you exactly how to set up XAMPP, which is a free web server package you can use to create a web server on your desktop!

Basically, you use it to create a virtual copy of the website you’re developing on your hard drive, so you don’t have to go poking and prodding around on your live site, because we all know that’s just plain unprofessional.

Now, a lot of people who use the WordPress platform use XAMPP to see how their customized themes run.  I’m sure you could use it for any website in currently in dev hell. Alternatively, you can use it to test out new features and plug-ins you want to add, without… once again, messing with your live site.  You know, because, like I said earlier… that’s just plain unprofessional.

I’m actually just going to link you guys to SixRevisions, which is an awesome resource for Web Designers and Devs in general.
