Xoreax’s XGE grid computing solution fully integrated with Unreal 3 Engine
Xoreax Ltd and Epic Games announced today via a press release that Xoreax’s XGE grid computing solution is fully integrated with Epic’s award-winning Unreal Engine 3. This basically means that developers can now speed up local compilations for individual platforms and configurations and parallelize the process of building across multiple platforms and configurations simultaneously, leveraging the shared nature of UE3’s multi-platform code base.
“A constant challenge for developers is to accelerate their development and software engineering processes to get great games to market faster and on budget,” said Dr. Michael Capps, president of Epic Games. “XGE integration with Unreal Engine 3 allows developers to accelerate the build process and speed up testing so they can focus on development instead of waiting around for builds to compile. By improving iteration time and the code verification process, teams can have less strain on manpower and budgets.”
Unreal Engine 3 contains more than two million lines of code, all of which can be compiled in various configurations for numerous supported platforms, such as PC, console and mobile. Using XGE technology integrated with UE3, developers can accelerate software engineering tasks such as code builds, data builds, simulations, QA scripts and custom processes.
“When taking into account the large number of UE3 licensees across the globe, this approach literally saves man-years – not just days or hours – over the course of a project, simply by implementing XGE directly in the engine,” said Uri Mishol, chief executive officer of Xoreax. “We’re really excited to see how much time UE3 licensees will realize using our grid computing solution.”
