Image Metrics’ FACEWARE 3.0 Named ‘Best of Show’ at GDC 2011

By on April 14, 2011

According to a press release we got today, Image Metrics has been presented with a best of show award for its industry-leading facial animation software FACEWARE 3.0, at the Game Developers Conference 2011 in San Francisco.  Announced earlier last week by Computer Graphics World, the Silver Edge Award is for recipients whose products or services represent the best of the best at the industry’s leading trade shows.

FACEWARE 3.0 is the result of more than a decade of technology innovation and animation production experience creating AAA game titles, Oscar-winning films and Grammy-winning music videos. FACEWARE utilizes a unique marker-less video analysis technology and artist-driven performance transfer toolset to deliver ultra-high-fidelity, truly believable facial animation in a fraction of the time of traditional and alternate methods. FACEWARE offers studios full creative flexibility, empowering them to handle all creative decisions and iterations in-house. Most recently, FACEWARE was leveraged extensively in such titles as Crysis 2 and Red Dead Redemption, winner of GDC’s Game of the Year, as well as films such as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Splice.

“FACEWARE has become the standard in facial animation and today is utilized by major videogame, film, visual effects and commercial houses,” said Image Metrics CEO Robert Gehorsam. “We are very proud and honored to have the CGW editorial team acknowledge our software as among the best at GDC 2011. It is a testament to our company’s continued dedication to pushing innovation that supports the work of creative teams around the world.”
